What’s a Road Rally?

Road RallyA Road Rally is a precision contest of driver and navigator skills held within the legal posted speed limits on wonderful country roads. Competitors are required to obey all normal rules of the road.

A Rally Team is composed of a driver, a co-driver (navigator) and a street-legal car. Rally teams leave the start at one-minute intervals and must carefully navigate the route to arrive at the checkpoints on course and on time.

There are a variety of classes based on experience level. Beginners are always welcome! Bring a watch, some pencils and a clipboard.

For complete rules information please check with the sanctioning body of the event(s) you are interested in.

Rally Against Parkinson's : Jul 5
Organized By : ORG (Oregon Region)

The Oregon Rally Group Presents:
The Rally Against Parkinson's
July 5th, 2008

Entry Fee: $30.00 gets you the rally, regularity laps around Portland International Raceway, a chance at fabulous prizes and a free barbecue dinner.  Poker hands will cost extra, price is TBA at this time.

Start at 11:30am to 11:59am from one of these six Portland/Vancouver Metro Area Subaru Dealers, you choose!  Teams meet up at Portland International Raceway by noon (roughly) for registration and regularity legs start at a little after 1pm.  You must start at a Subaru Dealership, please do not come directly to PIR.

This is a tour rally, no traps, no tricks and a nice scenic and fun drive.  This is an excellent event for the novice team to begin with.  It will be challenging enough for experienced teams to zero controls.  Running concurrently with the rally will be a Poker Run.  Best hands and low ball hands win prizes donated by top rally drivers, top rally teams and many local establishments.

All vehicles welcome that are street licensed with two occupants.  This is an excellent event for vintage cars as a warm up for the Monte Shelton as there are no gravel roads.

The annual Car #1 auction (and other car number requests) is active right now on the org-l yahoogroups list and on Facebook.  Both of these require membership however both are free if you go to the homepages of either one.  If you do not have access to Facebook or Yahoo Groups you may e-mail a bid directly to johnelkin@comcast.net

The Oregon Rally Group would like to thank both Ken Block and Subaru of America for matching $1000 donations!  Both have also provided prizes to be awarded after the running of the rally and the poker run.  There are other companies and individuals who are donating generously as well, a complete list will be posted closer to the event.

All proceeds go to Parkinson's Resources of Oregon.
